Sailor's Grog Recipe:

• ¾ oz Lime juice
• ¾ oz Orange juice
• ½ oz Falernum
• 1½ oz Spiced Rum
• ½ oz 151 proof Demerara Rum
• 1 dash Angostura bitters
• 1½ oz Ginger Beer

Shake all ingredients except ginger beer with crushed ice and pour into a double old-fashioned glass. Top with ginger beer and more crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig and orange slice.

BG's tips

There are a lot of Spiced Rums on the market, and very few of an admirable quality. Typically they use artificial flavors and a lot of sugar. Look for dry-spiced rums like Don Q or Foursquare. They're a harder find but make a fantastic cocktail.
